FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I wear?
It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing for each visit. For WOMEN please wear or bring shorts and a sports bra or tank top. For MEN please wear or bring shorts, and expect to remove your shirt if needed. Hands-on treatment is done with skin-to-skin contact, so be sure clothing is loose enough to allow easy access to your body. Your privacy and dignity will be maintained at all times, and you will be treated with the utmost respect.
PLEASE DO NOT put on lotion or creams before your appointment, as this can interfere with the effectiveness of hands-on treatment. Myofascial Release is done without the use of lotions or oils, as good contact needs to be maintained between the therapist's hands and the area being treated, without sliding on the surface of the skin.
I have Medicare. Can I still receive treatment at this clinic?
The Healing Spot Physical Therapy, LLC is an enrolled Medicare Provider, but we are not a participating provider at this time. This means that Medicare law prevents us from providing Medicare patients with what would be considered “normally covered services.” If you are a Medicare beneficiary and would still like to request treatment at this clinic, please call us at (719) 270-1123.
What can I expect at my appointment?
At your Initial Evaluation we will review your health and surgical history and any previous treatment you may have received, to find out what has and hasn't worked in the past. We will talk about your goals and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. You'll receive a thorough physical therapy assessment, followed by highly skilled hands-on treatment. Before you leave you will be shown what you can get started on at home for self-treatment, to help you feel better and move easier. You will have a chance to ask questions and we will talk about your treatment plan and how many follow-up visits are needed, based upon the results on your evaluation. Initial Evaluation is 60 minutes.
Follow-up appointments include customized, highly skilled hands-on treatment, and instructions on appropriate exercises to help lengthen and strengthen your body. You will be shown ways to manage your condition at home, with self-releasing techniques and other tips specific for your body's needs and at a level that is meaningful to you. Treatment sessions are 60-90 minutes, depending on your preference.
Two-Therapist Treatment Sessions are available, and are 60 to 90 minutes in length. They include all hands-on treatment, delivered by two highly-skilled therapists to restore balance to your body in order to relieve pain and stiffness. This is a great option to consider if you've plateaued in your healing process.
What if I can't make my scheduled appointment?
As a courtesy to other patients trying to schedule appointments and to the therapist, a minimum 24-hour cancellation notice is required. This allows others on the waiting list to be seen if you are unable to keep your appointment. Only emergencies, illness, and inclement weather/road conditions are excusable. You will be billed a $50 cancellation fee upon violation of this policy, which must be paid before further appointments will be scheduled.
